Anything Can Be Done

Travis C.  •  Seattle, WA  •  Enchilada Enthusiast

Who helped you cope with relocations and/or deployments?

Family and friends. Care packages from my mom and dad were a huge thing…with stuff like Nutter Butter Cookies or Snickers Bars.

What did you learn about yourself through your military experience?

That a body could be pushed to go further and do more than you could ever believe possible. And if I could make it through this…everything else seems pretty easy. Anything can be done.

We often hear after friends and family, a taste of home is what our servicemembers miss the most. What home-cooked meal did you crave when you were away?

Every year for Christmas my granny makes enchiladas, and everyone brings a different ingredient for them. When I was deployed, my granny sent me a letter saying, “Don’t worry, I’m saving the enchiladas we made this year for when you get back.” And two years later when I came back to visit, she had ‘em dated in the freezer…it was great.
