Who helped you cope with relocations and/or deployments?

My family helped. It was always a breath of fresh air to speak with someone on the phone. I was also dating a girl at the time, who is now my beautiful wife. She was a huge support. My military brothers and sisters were also a huge support system, at home and overseas.

What did you learn about yourself through your military experience?

How to be a better leader, trainer and coach. I learned a sense of urgency and how to be an integral part of a team, perform under stress and prioritize efficiently.

We often hear after friends and family, a taste of home is what our servicemembers miss the most. What home-cooked meal did you crave when you were away?

I missed my grandma’s authentic shrimp and okra gumbo, and red beans and rice the most! I love to eat…missed a lot of good New Orleans food as I’m from there. It reminded me of home and family.
