Kroger Sponsored Football Camp for USO children with Houston Texans' Brian Cushing

Houston - Kroger sponsored a football camp and gave USO children free admission to come out to Pearland High School’s football stadium to learn the finer points of football. Houston Texans’ linebacker Brian Cushing was leading the charge to create a day these kids will never forget.

About How the USO Helps Support the Troops

The Kroger Co. Family of Stores has raised more than $10.5 million since 2010 to help support USO programs. And they’ve also hired over 22,000 veterans since 2009. Here are just a few of the USO programs we’re helping to support:

  • USO Hire Heroes USA

We focus on hiring veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces to work at our stores. We have joined forces with several major companies in the 100,000 Jobs Mission.

  • USO Operation Phone Home

The USO Operation Phone Home program distributes free phone cards to troops around the world, enabling them to make long distance calls home at no charge.

  • USO No Dough Dinners

Today, hundreds of Kroger associates serve in the armed forces, either as members of reserve units or on active duty, and thousands are military veterans.

  • United Through Reading Military Program

Helping military families stay connected during deployment.

  • Families of the Fallen

The USO supports dignified transfers at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware – the first stop on American soil for U.S. troops who have paid the ultimate price while serving their country.

  • Watch the “Always By Their Side” video

See a day in the life of the USO around the world.
